When I started looking at Plasma TV I didn't realize just how good they would be!
Plasma TV!...it sounds like something from 'Star Trek'...
It probably is!
The first commercially available Plasma television 21" came out in 1992, in 2006 one was shown measuring over a 100 inches!
"Technology marches on"
A plasma television works in a similar way to an LCD but with gasses, Neon+Xenon sandwiched with electrodes between glass panels, the gasses are ionized by the electrodes that in turn create ultraviolet photons.
The main areas to look at are:
Lifetime Picture Quality Styling
I cover these areas and others in my reviews, just click on a manufacturers name and read what I found.
Panasonic
Hitachi Fujitsu Pioneer LG
Earlier
Plasma TV
suffered from short life spans and burn in ('burn in' is when an image becomes etched into the screen), both of which have been addressed and improved.
Blacks on a Plasma television are blacker especially on the
Panasonic range
and with very fast refresh rates you really get a crisp picture.
I looked at some excellent Plasma televisions and you can read my findings by clicking on the makers names throughout this page or
click on this link for my Panasonic LCD reviews.
