Flat Screen TV Guide - Cloudy Navimage

It will soon be the norm everywhere?!
"HDTV is coming!"

In 1998, America screened its first HDTV broadcast, the launch of shuttle Discovery, in 2003 Japan started broadcasting it on its terrestrial TV network, now Sky will start broadcasting high definition on approximately 12 channels in the UK..."yippee!"

Most modern TVs now use digital signals, a TV screens picture is divided into thousands of minute pixels that form lines on the TV screen, this is what '1080p' is when you read it in the specs, (one thousand and eighty progressive) lines of pixels.

The 'progressive' is the type of refresh your screen has.

A good standard TV has on average a 768 x 576 resolution, a true high definition TV has a 1920 x 1080 resolution.

The difference is about 4x clearer pictures!

The signals that are currently broadcasted are sent digitally by means of mp2 (Mpeg 2) a type of data compression, more detail can be broadcasted using mp4 (Mpeg 4) because there is so much more detail, mp4 compresses the data a little more than mp2.

Lg was the first to invent high definition TV and has recently joined up with Samsung.

Philips, Sharp and a whole lot more manufacturers are making all their new ranges 1080p compatible.

Now...if you have a HDTV compatible TV or even a 1080p HDTV and you can get high definition broadcasts you stand to be "amazed" at the excellent images your TV will produce!

I only review true HDTV as that's what I decided to get (lucky you!), so have a look at my reviews for both LCD andPlasma TVs.
